Maus Frères SA, based in Geneva, Switzerland, acquired the company at that point and gave the store its unique red logo of six hexagons, an emblem Bergner's now shares with five corporate siblings as well as two current Maus subsidiaries.
In later years, Carson's itself did open at the mall, by acquiring former anchor Bergner's (which was added in 1981 as Bergner-Weise).
In 1989, Carson Pirie Scott & Co. was acquired by P.A. Bergner & Co. (founded in Peoria, Illinois), who operated the Bergner's, Charles V. Weise, Myers Brothers and Boston Store chains.
