Saint Bernadette Soubirous stated that in the first apparition of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1858, the Virgin Mary had a rosary with her and that Bernadette prayed the rosary in her presence.
St Berns, as the school is colloquially known, was founded in 1958 and named after Saint Bernadette.
The Chapel consists of the altar, above it, there is the cross and the three-metre-high statue of The Blessed Virgin Mary called by people of Jankowice – The Holy Virgin from Studzienka, and the statue of Bernadette (the girl, who saw The Blessed Virgin in Lourdes)

The six houses are Immaculata, Rosary, Fatima, Bernadette, and the two high school houses Shanahan and Saint Paul for Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth students respectively.
David John also designed the pinnacles at the corners of the building; these depict Our Lady of Lourdes appearing to Saint Bernadette, Christ appearing to Saint Margaret Mary, Saint Thomas of Canterbury, and Saint Edward the Confessor.
