His daughter Florence married the archaeologist Alexander Keiller and his eldest daughter, Gladys Morris (1879–1946), married the noted British sportsman, journalist and editor, Bertram Fletcher Robinson.
The wax thumb-print reproduction idea was devised by, and bought from, Bertram Fletcher Robinson (1870–1907), who also helped plot The Hound of the Baskervilles (1901).
