In Hinduism, Bhadra (भद्र) is a goddess of the hunt and one of Shiva's servants.
During the festival, cows are marched in the streets and generally celebrated in the Nepalese month of Bhadra (August–September).

The other notable mention is in The Ancient History of South Canara written by Ganapathi Rao Aigal, which mentions one Damarsa Bale, among nine other Samasthas (Noblemen) of Bantwal, signing a copper inscription of offering to Sri Bhadra Narasimha Temple of Manjeshwar.
The Bhadra Maruti Temple is considered one of the tourist attractions near Aurangabad and people gather in lakhs during auspicious occasions like Hanuman Jayanti and Ram Navami.
On the Mahalaya day in 2006, Sujata Bhadra, daughter of the late Birendra Krishna Bhadra, got a cheque for Rs 50917 from music company, Saregama India Ltd as a royalty for her father's famous work.
The newly established Jadunath Sarkar Resource Centre for Historical Research under the aegis of the Centre, which was managed by Gautam Bhadra, was set up at 'Jadunath Bhavan' under the Directorship of Partha Chatterjee.

The temple is considered a place of religious sanctity due to being built at the confluence of seven rivers (Bhavanasi, Krishna River and its five rivers that merge into it namely, Veni, Tunga, Bhadra, Bheemarathi and Malapaharini).
