On 30 December 1919 Cocks Biddulph was acquired by the Bank of Liverpool and Martins Ltd becoming, in 1928, Martins Bank Limited, the branch premises being known as London Cocks Biddulph, sort code 11-00-20.
It initially consisted of the Townships of Biddulph, London, North Dorchester, Westminster and West Nossouri (excluding the Village of Belmont) and the southeast part of the City of London.
By 1838, the canal company was looking to expansion, and sought to build a branch from Buglawton to Biddulph, to serve the coal mines.
