Bill Tilghman

Tilghman was played by Rod Steiger in the 1981 film Cattle Annie and Little Britches.

A Democrat, Tilghman had been a delegate to his party's 1904 convention, which met in St. Louis, Missouri, to nominate New York Judge Alton B. Parker, a former law partner of U.S. President Grover Cleveland, to run against the successful Republican incumbent, Theodore Roosevelt.


Cromwell, Oklahoma

On Halloween night, 1924, Cromwell Town Marshal and legendary Old West lawman Bill Tilghman was shot outside of a cafe called "Ma Murphy's", by a corrupt prohibition agent named Wiley Lynn.
