The main BIAD campus and library is located at Gosta Green, just north of Birmingham city centre, and about three-quarters of a mile from both Birmingham New Street railway station and the Custard Factory quarter.
In 1869, ironmaster William Menelaus convened and chaired a meeting at the Midland Railway's Queen's Hotel in Birmingham, West Midlands, which led to the founding of the Iron and Steel Institute, which received its Royal Charters in 1899 and 1975.
His voice is currently used at many British railway stations; most notably Birmingham New Street, as well as almost the entire South West Trains and Southern networks, a number of stations on the First Great Western and Northern Rail networks, for the provision of announcements regarding train arrivals, departures and cancellations or delays, as well as general information for the travelling public.
In addition to Birmingham and Wolverhampton, stations were planned at Smethwick, Spon Lane, Oldbury & Bromford Lane, Dudley Port, Tipton, Deepfields & Coseley, and Ettingshall Road & Bilston.
Tamebridge Parkway is only a 5 minute bus or car journey away from Yew Tree, providing frequent trains to Walsall or Birmingham New Street.
