The name was bestowed after palms were imported from the Algerian city of Biskra.
Lignes Aeriennes Latécoère used the aircraft to operate passenger and mail routes between Casablanca and Dakar and also from Algiers to Biskra.
It was described by Chrétien in 1911, and is known from Algeria (including Biskra, the type location).
