Blackburn Cathedral

The organ was opened on 28 February 1828 with a concert which included works by Handel - extracts from his Messiah and Israel in Egypt and his Occasional Overture played by the new orgnaist Joseph John Harris.

Henry Smart

In 1831 he became organist of Blackburn parish church, where he wrote his first important work, a Reformation anthem; then of St Giles-without-Cripplegate; St Luke's, Old Street; and finally of St Pancras New Church, in 1864, which last post he held at the time of his death, less than a month after receiving a government pension of £100 per annum.

River Blakewater, Lancashire

The culvert was extensively modified in the 1960s during the redevelopment of the town centre - it now runs underneath Ainsworth Street and between Blackburn Cathedral and Blackburn Bus Station.


Fraser Eagle

The company sponsored Blackburn Rovers F.C. (as well as the Blackburn Cathedral Choir), Rabat Ajax F.C., and Accrington Stanley FC, who have named their stadium Fraser Eagle Stadium.
