Rhys Isaac, Pulitze-prize-winning author, died in Blairgowrie on 6 October 2010.
Frances Margaret Leighton (8 March 1909 King William's Town - 8 January 2006 Blairgowrie, Victoria) was a South African botanist and the daughter of James Leighton (1855-1930), a Scotsman and Kew horticulturist and plant collector.
Rhys Isaac died at his home in Blairgowrie, Victoria, Australia, on 6 October 2010, aged 72, from undisclosed causes.
The survey collected data from informants as far south as Arran, Cowal, Brig o' Turk, east to Blairgowrie, Braemar and Grantown-on-Spey, north-east to Dunbeath and Portskerra and all areas west of these areas, including St Kilda.
On retirement, and with two of their three children living in Australia, William and Frances followed and settled in Blairgowrie on the Mornington Peninsula, their home for the next 35 years.
The Meikleour Beech Hedge(s) (European Beech = Fagus sylvatica), located near Meikleour, Perth and Kinross, Scotland, alongside the A93 Perth-Blairgowrie Road, was planted in the autumn of 1745 by Jean Mercer and her husband, Robert Murray Nairne on the Marquess of Lansdowne's Meikleour estate.
