William Thomas Blanford (1832–1905), an English geologist and naturalist.
Blanford's rock agama (Psammophilus blanfordanus) is an agamid lizard found in Peninsular India and is named after William Thomas Blanford (1832–1905), member of the Geological Survey of India.
Many of the streets are named after areas in Dorset, such as Blanford Gardens - named after the famous gardens in Dorset - or after trees, such as Redwood and Acorn Bank.
In 2008, Tol collaborated with Gary Yohe, Richard G. Richels and Geoffrey Blanford to prepare the "Challenge Paper" on global warming which examined three approaches devised by Lomborg for tackling the issue.
