Projects that are still in the planning stages are the construction of a new Hospital center in the Blato neighborhood, construction of a new bridge spanning the Sava river and connecting the Jarun neighborhood with Novi Zagreb - zapad, expansion of the public transportation network with new tram lines, construction of a New and larger city Zoo and the construction of a new office zone with highrise buildings.

Belo Blato was settled in 1883 by Slovak people from the village of Padina (in south Banat), where Slovaks from Slovakia settled several years earlier.
Receiving the stream Vruje from the right in Guci/Gusinje, it continues as the Ljuča for a few more kilometers where it empties into the Lake Plav (Plavsko blato in Montenegrin), creating a small delta.
