Blimea is a place name emerged from many Asturian words with different phonetic variants translated into Castilian word " wicker " such as bima , blima , brima , blimba or bilma .

Nalón river divides into two large halves and forms a broad plain which is where Blimea , capital of the parish rises.

In September 2007, by a decree of the Principality of Asturias, El Entrego joined the adjacent Sotrondio and Blimea to form a single population center of San Martin del Rey name Aurelio as a homonymous municipality.
