La Parka's shoulder injury kept him sidelined for extended periods in both 2007 and 2008, but he did participate in Triplemania XVI where he teamed with Chessman and Silver King, only to lose to La Legión, represented by Bobby Lashley, Electroshock and Kenzo Suzuki.
He then defeated Ross Clifton on February 13, 2009 via submission and was scheduled to face former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley in an MMA bout, but tested positive for steroids after the Clifton fight in which he served a one year suspension.
