The southernmost, Kannada-speaking portion of the state became part of the new linguistic state of Karnataka (then, Mysore State).

History of the Telangana movement

After reorganization in 1956, Regions of the state west of Red and Blue lines merged with Bombay and Mysore states respectively and rest of the state(Telangana) was merged with Andhra state to form Andhra Pradesh state
