Duke of Rutland

The traditional burial place of the Manners family was St Mary the Virgin's Church, Bottesford.

Gerard Johnson the elder

In 1591, Johnson was commissioned, ostensibly by Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland, but in practicality his mother, to erect two monuments in St Mary the Virgin's Church at Bottesford, Leicestershire, commemorating the 3rd and 4th earls, Edward and John Manners.


Henry Bayley

In 1810 he was presented to the united vicarages of Messingham and Bottesford, where he renovated the parish church, mostly at his own expense; and in 1812 to the vicarage of Great Carlton, near Louth, which he rarely visited, although he retained the benefice till his death.

Scalford
