Bartolomeo Marchionni arrived circa 1468 at Lisbon as an agent to the Cambini.
Therefore several academic books and articles have been written about the family, including In famiglia: Storie di interessi e affetti nell’Italia moderna by Roberto Bizzocchi and Il Casino dei Nobili: Famiglie illustri, viaggiatori, mondanità a Pisa tra Sette e Ottecent by Alessandro Panajia with Giovanni Benvenuti.
In 1562, John Shute translated the works of Cambini and Paolo Giovio into English and composed a tract on them (Two very notable commentaries: The one of the original of the Turcks and the empire of the house of Ottomanno, and the other of the warre of the Turcke against George Scanderbeg).
Works that were performed at the Concert Spirituel and described as hiérodrames include Le sacrifice d'Abraham (1780, words by Voltaire, music by Cambini); Samson (1783, words by Voltaire, music by Valentin), and Absalon (1786, words by Moline, music by Henri Montan Berton).
