At the 2001 census the municipality had a population of 27,132 inhabitants and a population density of 8,027.2 persons/kmĀ², making it the most densely populated comune in Italy outside the Province of Naples (although it was only seventh overall, behind Portici, Casavatore, San Giorgio a Cremano, Melito di Napoli, Naples, and Arzano).
The sole F.6M prototype was damaged in a collision at Bresso airfield.
This latter aircraft was involved in a major accident on 30 April 1944 when loaded with munitions, it exploded on the runway at Bresso.
He died during World War II in an aircraft crash while testing the new Macchi C.202 at Bresso, near Milan.
