2 unusual facts about Bridgewater Hall


Bridgewater Hall

The venue is named after the Third Duke of Bridgewater who commissioned the eponymous Bridgewater Canal that crosses Manchester, although the hall is situated on a specially constructed arm of the Rochdale Canal.

Manchester Boys Choir

From 1996 to 2003 it held the title as the Choir in Residence at The Bridgewater Hall and performed before the Queen on the Hall's opening night.


Danny Driver

He made his Wigmore Hall recital later that year, and has since appeared at Southbank Centre, Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, the Royal Albert Hall, and Symphony Hall, Birmingham.

Leeds Philharmonic Society

As well as traditional concerts in Leeds Town Hall, the Chorus has toured and performed in many other prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall (London), Bridgewater Hall (Manchester), Symphony Hall, Birmingham, The Sage Gateshead, Franz Liszt Academy of Music(Budapest) and St. Stephen's Cathedral, Vienna.

Man and Myth

In support of the albums' release Harper undertook a short, three date, UK tour, performing at the Royal Festival Hall, London, (22 October), the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (25 October) and the Colston Hall, Bristol (27 October).

Priestnall School

They are all named after Manchester landmarks – the Bridgewater Hall, the Imperial War Museum, Urbis, the John Rylands Library, and Victoria Baths.
