Brimsdown Junior School, attended by academic Professor Philip Tew, cartoonist and illustrator Ian West, and actor Ray Winstone.
In 1951, Brimsdown railway station was used as the set for part of the Alexander Mackendrick film The Man in the White Suit, starring Alec Guinness (the station where Sidney Stratton tries to buy a ticket near the end of the film).
The Enfield Poltergeist was the name given to claims of poltergeist activity at a council house in Brimsdown village, borough of Enfield, England during the late 1970s.
Some of these are small geographically, i.e. covering only one business estate, e.g. Brimsdown Business Area in Enfield, whilst others cover larger areas, such as West London .
This area, with nearby Brimsdown subsequently developed as a centre for the manufacture of thermionic valves, cathode ray tubes, etc. and nearby parts of Enfield became an important centre of the electronics industry for much of the 20th century.
The storage reservoir is bordered by Sewardstone and Chingford to the east and Brimsdown and Ponders End to the west, and covers 420 acres (170 hectares), making it the largest in London.
