Britwell was one of a number of London County Council estates built at the time, with other estates in places including Langley and Swindon.

When the Britwell Estate was created, its postal address was Farnham Royal, near Slough.

A civil parish was established at that point for the part of the estate that had previously lain in the Burnham civil parish.

He became rector of Britwell, Oxfordshire, on 3 May 1586, and of Alresford, Hampshire, in 1590; he also held the offices of chaplain of the Savoy Hospital and chaplain-in-ordinary to the queen.
The leading figure and election agent for the group is Paul Janik (formerly of Independent Britwellian Residents political party in Britwell), the chairman of Slough Independents from 2005.
His name appears on the title-page of a unique volume of poems (1621, 4to), once in Samuel Christie-Miller's library at Britwell.
