In 1986 he was one of 17 indicted in the Brokers of Death arms case involving the proposed sale of $2bn of US-made Israeli arms to Iran; the case was dropped in 1989 after prosecutors they could not disprove the defendants' claims that they had official approval from Israel and the US for the deal.
The four-month investigation, costing over $100,000, led to arrests in April 1986 in New York and Bermuda, with the involvement of Special Agent Joseph F. King.
