Denton Castle was built after 1088, following the Norman invasion of England, probably by William d'Albini, who linked his estate at Denton to that at Buckenham, where he also built a castle.
Buckenham's only Test experience came on the 1909-10 tour to South Africa, under the captaincy of H. D. G. Leveson Gower.
Louden first played for Essex in 1912 at a time when Essex bowling was very weak with Buckenham's and Mead's careers nearly over.
Haslam held the living, together with that of nearby Buckenham from 1863 to 1871, having been presented to the living by Sir Thomas Beauchamp of Langley Hall.
