The murals were painted by Erwin Rommel's Afrika Korps officers in the state dining room and in the base library.

The Murals were completed in 1945 by Hans Jürgen Press and Robert Humpel, both German prisoners held at the base.
The one woman show was held at the Iconic Building 98 studio galleries along with a one hour lecture by Professor Emeritus James K. Kettlewell retired curator of the Hyde Collection.

While a prisoner at Ft. D.A. Russell in Texas, he painted detailed murals of far West Texas mountain scenes at Building 98 in Marfa, Texas.
