In 1902, he was appointed a Fellow of the college and in 1905 became Junior Bursar rising to Senior Bursar in 1912 at which time he relinquished all teaching responsibilities.
He was Parish assistant at San Lorenzo Nuovo since 1905, where he also filled the position of bursar vicarious for two times.
From 1926 he went into business in Durban until 1933 and then became Bursar and assistant master at St Columba's College, Dublin, from 1934 to 1936.
After his ordination, he was named Bursar General of the SSPX and was stationed at Rickenbach, the headquarters of the SSPX in Switzerland.
After serving five years in the Royal Navy during World War II he returned to Oxford as a Fellow of first New College and then Wadham College, where between 1947 and 1961 he was in succession Dean, Domestic Bursar and Senior Tutor.
A London office was maintained, initially on Cockspur Street, until a bursar was appointed at Bath after World War II.
