As there are no higher mountains nearby, there is a nice view over Trondheim, the fjord and mountain ranges—Trollheimen to the south and Sylane (which is partly in Sweden) to the east.

There is, however, an 18-hole golf course at the agricultural lowland area Byneset, located just west of Bymarka.
Ila is an area of Trondheim, Norway in the western part of the city centre, Midtbyen, limited by the river Nidelva in the south, Skansen in the north and Steinberget, Bymarka and Ilsvikøra in the west.
