Exmouth Gulf Station

A Boomerang A-46 hit a wireless mast while making a low pass over the station in 1943, tearing a section off the wing of the plane.


No. 84 Wing RAAF

 84 Wing operated a mix of aircraft including CAC Boomerangs, CAC Wirraways, Auster AOPs and Bristol Beauforts, before disbanding in 1946.

No. 86 Squadron RAAF

Until this point the base had been protected by CAC Boomerang fighters of No. 84 Squadron flying out of Horn Island, but the completion of an airfield at Meruake allowed a Kittyhawk squadron to take on this duty.
