Sawyer and Pownoll now suddenly extremely wealthy had received about £65,000 apiece; Pownoll used his money to buy the Sharpham estate at Ashprington, and to build a large house there designed by Robert Taylor and with gardens designed by Capability Brown.

Kirkharle

Kirkharle's most famous son is Capability Brown the notable landscape gardener whose father was employed by the Loraines at Kirkharle Hall.

New Wardour Castle

The original plans for the grounds were suggested by Richard Woods in 1764, however these proved too expensive and revised by George Ingham in 1773 before Capability Brown was brought in and undertook extensive earth moving and tree planting between 1775 and 1783.

Penrice Castle

The surrounding park is also Grade I listed and was laid out by William Emes, a student of Capability Brown, when the mansion was built.

Rickmansworth

The manor house was replaced by the hill-top mansion Moor Park, which eventually became the residence of Admiral Lord Anson, who commissioned Capability Brown to remake the formal gardens, and in 1828 of the Barons Ebury; it is now the Golf Club House.

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School

The school's grounds, Gatton Park were previously owned by Sir Jeremiah Colman of Colman's mustard and were extensively landscaped by celebrated 18th century landscape gardener Capability Brown.

Thomas Brierley

When the Duke of Devonshire was Provincial Grandmaster for Derbyshire, Thomas and some friends walked to Chatsworth House which sat in a large Deer Park laid out by Capability Brown where they were refused admittance as the Duke was home.
