It was through him that the architect secured a few minor English commissions, such as garden pavilions, chimneypieces (Loukomsky 1928), an altar for the private Roman Catholic chapel of Henry Arundell at New Wardour Castle.
The original plans for the grounds were suggested by Richard Woods in 1764, however these proved too expensive and revised by George Ingham in 1773 before Capability Brown was brought in and undertook extensive earth moving and tree planting between 1775 and 1783.
Slighted during the English Civil War, this stronghold was replaced by New Wardour Castle, long the home of the Lords Arundell of Wardour and later that of Cranbourne Chase School.
