The insect life found within the cave is fairly typical of caves on the Mendip Hills, including a number of troglophiles and troglobites such as the freshwater shrimp (niphargus fontanus) and the springtail (onychiurus schoetti).

Alvinocarididae is a family of shrimp, originally described by M. L. Christoffersen in 1986 from samples collected by DSV Alvin, from which they derive their name.
These include bivalves and other molluscs, polychaete worms, amphipods and juvenile fish which hide among the leaf blades, sea urchins, crabs and caridean shrimps.
