Boldizsár Batthyány (1543 – 1590), baron, well-educated humanist, became Protestant in 1570,protector of the botanist Carolus Clusius
He was the first botanist to climb the Ötscher and the Schneeberg in Lower Austria, which was also the first documented ascent of the latter.
The genus Clusia was named in honor of botanist Carolus Clusius.

It was also described by Clusius in 1601, and recommended for medicinal use in 1763 by Gerhard and others.
Besides the polyglot Bible, Plantin published many other works of note, such as editions of St. Augustine and St. Jerome, the botanical works of Dodonaeus, Clusius and Lobelius, and the description of the Netherlands by Guicciardini.
