The song was unreleased until 1991, when it was included on the Yes boxed set Yesyears and released as a cassette single backed with "Long Distance Runaround".
Although the song was released as a Cassette single, Promo CD Single and 12" Promo vinyl single, a video was never shot, nor did the song get radio play. Due to the lyrical content, the single received a Parental Advisory sticker. The 12" Promo vinyl single is a double single, including another Black Reign Single, "I can't understand"
The cassette and CD singles were released on 23 August 1993, and those who bought the cassette single received a free No Ordinary EP cassette with live tracks ("Hungry Like the Wolf", "Notorious", "Come Undone"), recorded during a performance at Tower Records a few months before.
By the late 1980s and the early 1990s, the 45 rpm record would decrease in popularity and other means would be used to evaluate the popularity of new songs, such as cassette-single, CD single, and digital MP3/AAC sales (plus radio airplay).
The 7" packaging made reference to animals, with a panda and dolphin on the sleeve. The cassette single made more references to sex. To wit, the instrumental mix was dubbed "The Condom Mix" on the cassette single.
