Aldringham was the home of the poet, artist and architect Cecil Lay, and most of his architectural work is found in or near the village, including Raidsend, some houses on North Warren, and the chapel on Aldringham Heath.
He then travelled in Belgium and the Netherlands for a while, studying painting, and became a close friend of Frank Brangwyn, and also corresponded with Ezra Pound.
