In addition to the Stubensandtein in Germany, A. ferratus is also known from the Calcare di Zorzino Formation in Cene, Italy.
The club was founded in the summer 2007 with the merger between A.S.D. Football Club Alzano 1909 (playing in Prima Categoria Lombardy), from Alzano Lombardo and Ardens Cene (playing in Eccellenza Lombardy) from Cene.
Gaverina Terme borders the following municipalities: Albino, Bianzano, Casazza, Cene, Spinone al Lago.
The species, on the other hand, was named after a local municipality called Cene neighbouring the site where the fossil was excavated.
