He earned his A.B. from Centre College 1897, and served as principal at Stanford Academy in Kentucky for one year.

He is currently the Charles T. Hazelrigg Associate Professor of Music at Centre College in Danville, KY, where he teaches music theory, composition, aural skills, and world music.

Her father, William Wallace Hill, was born in Bath, Kentucky, graduated from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky in 1833, and earned a doctorate of Theology from Princeton University in 1838.
