Current members of the committee besides Akerlof and Zimmermann are: Marco Caliendo (IZA Director of Research), Richard Portes (Professor of Economics at the London Business School and President of the CEPR), and Jan Svejnar (Professor of Economics and Public Policy at the University of Michigan).
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Economic Growth, a co-director of the NBER research group on Income Distribution and Macroeconomics, and a Research Fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research.

He also holds the Ameritech Chair of Economic Development at the Indiana University School of Public and Environmental Affairs, and is director of the Institute for Development Strategies at Indiana University and a research fellow at the CEPR, London as well as an honorary professor at WHU-Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany.
It was launched in 1990 by Francesco Giavazzi, Mario Monti, and Richard Portes as a joint project of Bocconi University, the CEPR and the NBER and named in memory of Innocenzo Gasparini, former rector of Bocconi University.
He is also a research fellow of the Institute for Fiscal Studies, a research fellow of the Centre for Economic Policy Research and a member of the Institutions, Organizations and Growth Program of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Research.
