The Divje Babe Flute is a cave bear femur pierced by spaced holes that was found in 1995 at the Divje Babe archeological park located near Cerkno in northwestern Slovenia.
His parents were from Cerkno, and Mlakar composed several songs in the distinctive dialect of his parents' native region.
The Partizanski dnevnik was published between November 1943 and May 1945 by the Slovenian partisan resistance in the Slovenian Littoral, first in Cerkno and then in Gorenja Trebuša.

After the Italian armistice in September 1943, Cerkno was liberated by the Yugoslav Partisans and the region became one of the most important centres of Partisan resistance in the Slovenian Littoral.
The first attempts to classify Slovenian dialects were made by Izmail Sreznevsky in the early 19th century, followed by Jan Niecisław Baudouin de Courtenay (focusing on Resia, Venetian Slovenia, Cerkno, and Bled), Karel Štrekelj (focusing on the Karst), and Ivan Scheinig (focusing on Carinthia).
