The town won the Grand National Award in the Floral Towns competition in 2005 and the gold medal at the European "Entente Florale" in 1999.
Today the Espace Ferrié (Musée des Transmissions) continues his memory in Cesson-Sévigné.

First settled in the middle of the 19th century, its first post office opened in 1864 under the name Sévigné, perhaps in honour of the Marquise de Sévigné (1626-1696).
