Dominique de Roux was born in a Languedoc noble family which was close to the monarchist circles (his grandfather, Marie de Roux, was the lawyer of Charles Maurras and the Action Française).
At Cluj, he founded Acţiunea Românească ("Romanian Action"), a nationalist group inspired by Charles Maurras' Action Française.
In 1919 Riva-Agüero left for an extended stay in Europe and whilst there he came into contact with the works of radical Catholic rightist authors such as Jacques Bainville and Charles Maurras and soon became a disciple of their ideas.
