An avenue of lime trees linked the lodge and the palace, formerly located in Hamilton.

The quarrying was halted in the 1970s, following the death of the 14th Duke.

National Cycle Route 74

The latter was proposed as a cheaper option preferred in place of developing a route through the Avon Gorge within Chatelherault Country Park itself.

It will run between Chatelherault Country Park and Larkhall by widening and upgrading the footway of Carlisle Road (A72 and B7078) to cycleway status.
