Born in Chililabombwe, near the Congolese border, Katebe began his career with Afrisports FC.
Melu was born in Chililabombwe on June 6, 1957 and attended Chililabombwe Secondary School and turned out for the Konkola Blades before moving to the Mufulira Wanderers in the late 1970s.
He played his first international game for Togo, on 10 September 2008, against Zambia in Chililabombwe.
