She was elected to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly from the Palakol constituency on May 16, 2009 by defeating the Praja Rajyam President Konidella Chiranjeevi with good majority.
She also has a daughter, Karuna, who ran in the 2009 Elections for Nalgonda in Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party and lost her deposit to Gutha Sukhendar Reddy.
