Christie Hospital

By 1914, a leading local doctor, Sir William Milligan, had begun a campaign in the 'Manchester Guardian' to raise funds for radium treatment.

An initial contribution of £2000 from local brewer Edward Holt was not initially much emulated, but following the intervention of the Mayor, a series of 'Radium days' were organized which eventually raised enough money to start a small Radium Institute, initially housed in the Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Keith Bradley, Baron Bradley

In October 2006 it was announced the Keith Bradley had been appointed to the board of The Christie Hospital as a non executive director.

Richard Copley Christie

He was president of the Whitworth Institute from 1890 to 1895 and was much interested in the medical and other charities of Manchester, especially the Cancer Pavilion and Home, of whose committee he was chairman from 1890 to 1893, and which later became the Christie Hospital.

Salford Jets

Their single "Who You Looking At?" was re-released in aid of the Men Matter Appeal for the Christie Hospital but failed to chart.
