Christopher Colles

As the war drew to a close, Colles petitioned in a letter to General Washington in 1783 to remove obstacles along a short stretch of the Ohio River, which would open the entire river to naviation from Fort Pitt to the Mississippi, a project Washington thought laudable, but next to impossible to achieve.
