Chunqiu or Ch‘un-ch‘iu (Chinese: "Spring and Autumn") usually refers to the Spring and Autumn Annals, a history of the state of Lu during the early Eastern Zhou dynasty.
The prominent Tang Confucian Han Yu wrote in his essay Yuan Dao the following: "When Confucius wrote the Chunqiu, he said that if the feudal lords use Yi ritual, then they should be called Yi; If they use Chinese rituals, then they should be called Chinese."
An alternative text, the Lushi Chunqiu (Annals of Master Lu, third century BCE) credits another culture hero, Kui (who is somewhat confused with a one-legged mythical monster bearing the same name, Kui) with the invention of music.
