Sherwin was sent to study in London, first under John Astley, and then for three years under Francesco Bartolozzi – for whom he is believed to have executed a large portion of the plate of Clytie, after Annibale Carracci, published as the work of his master.
Mundy is the daughter of the Australian opera singer Clytie Hine (1887–1983) who studied at the Elder Conservatorium of Music in Adelaide, South Australia.
There they meet Cruwys Morchard, who is actually Clytie Potts, and Chudleigh Pomeroy, the former head of Tom's Guild, who is now the Lord Mayor of London.
