California Column

It was not until late June that a scout named John W. Jones was able to outrun pursuing Apaches and get a message to Canby: "The Column from California is really coming." On the march to the Rio Grande, 140 men of Company E, 1st California Infantry, and Company B, 2nd California Infantry, fought the famous Apache leader Cochise at Apache Pass in July.

Gran Cochisse

He was nicknamed El Indio Bravo ("The brave Indian") and is named after the Apache chief Cochise.

Barrón adopted a Nativ American character while wrestling called "Gran Cochisse" ("The Great Cochise") named after the Apache chief Cochise.


Bernard J. D. Irwin

Second Lieutenant George Nicholas Bascom led a group of 60 men from the 7th Infantry after Cochise but was soon besieged, prompting a rescue mission by the army.

Bluesology

Brown went on to form country rock band Cochise, playing and singing on their first two albums, Cochise and Swallow Tales, in 1970-71, before moving to the Mediterranean.
