His son Albert Wilkes Junior continued the business until it was sold to leading photographic agency Colorsport in 1970.
Captured by Colorsport's Colin Elsey, it become one of the most iconic images of rugby union, and in 2009 was named the 5th best sporting photo by the Daily Mail's sports writers.
