Comiket was founded in 1975 by Yoshihiro Yonezawa and a circle of friends, including Teruo Harada and Jun Aniwa, while they were studying at Meiji University.
The popularity of the songs led the group to release the independent album Re:package at Comiket 73 in December 2007.
Takeshi Nogami announced the publication of an anti-Ordinance dōjinshi at Comiket 79, entitled An Idiot's Guide to Tokyo's Harmful Books Regulation.

In chapter 18 of the manga Susume! Ikaryaku by Kouta Hirano a group of otaku who are plotting the “terrorist act” of forcing a unilateral meeting of Comiket in opposition to laws and regulations on manga, anime, and gaming, are helped by an old soldier and veteran of the 1960 protests against the ANPO Treaty who remarks that Hara Hara Tokei, “is a dojinshi we used to read”.
Nasu and Takeuchi later formed Type-Moon, and in 2001, featured a portion of the book in their 2001 Tsukihime fandisk, Tsukihime PLUS-DISC, which saw Kara no Kyōkai gain significant popularity, leading it to be released as a dōjinshi publication at Comiket 61 on December 30, 2001.
Afterwards, Hisaya once again quit the company he was working for, but at Comiket 70 in August 2006, it was announced that he would now be working with illustrator Naru Nanao on a series entitled Sola as the main concept writer.
