Comines (Belgium), a town in Hainaut, Belgium, part of the municipality of Comines-Warneton
The town of Comines sits on the Franco-Belgian border and is split into two parts: Comines (France) and Comines (Belgium), part of the municipality of Comines-Warneton.
During the existence of Belgium more and more Dutch-speaking regions have become French-speaking regions; for example, Mouscron (Moeskroen), Comines (Komen), and particularly Brussels (see Frenchification of Brussels).

The Battle of the Ypres-Comines Canal was a battle fought between the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) and German Army Group B during the British retreat to Dunkirk in 1940.
It encompassed the present-day Flemish Region in its old provincial borders (in other words, including Comines-Warneton but excluding Voeren).
